Last week Hilltown Land Trust welcomed our new TerraCorps members Audrey Boraski and Barry Matthews to the team! Audrey and Barry will be serving as AmeriCorps members with HLT for the 2020-2021 service year, which will run through the end of July.
Audrey is our Land Stewardship Coordinator and will play an important role engaging our volunteers in monitoring and taking care of our conserved lands. She will also help organize projects and events, like the Vernal Pool Plunge. Audrey grew up in Western MA and is excited to serve in the biodiverse land that HLT conserves!
Barry is our Community Engagement Coordinator and will support HLT’s outreach, engagement, and programming efforts over the next 11 months, including organizing both online and socially-distanced, in-person public events. Originally from Charlottesville, Virginia, he has lived in Western MA for the past three years and is excited to spend more time in the Hilltowns! Barry is serving this year as a TerraCorps Community Engagement Coordinator at Franklin Land Trust as well, and is split half-time between our two organizations.
Orienting new TerraCorps members remotely is strange and challenging, but we are taking advantage of this late-summer weather and getting together outside. This week and last we traveled to a few of our public trails for a hike and to put up new kiosks signs at Bradley, Breckenridge, and Stevens that were designed by Allie, our Community Engagement Coordinator last year. We were excited to finally get to meet Barry and Audrey in person and show them some of the land that HLT and our supporters have helped conserve!
Learn more about Audrey and Barry on our Staff & TerraCorps members page, and join us at a future event where you can meet them virtually or in person!
