Mariel is serving as HLT’s AmeriCorps Land Stewardship Coordinator with the TerraCorps program from September 2023 through July 2025.
Mariel organizes land stewardship for Hilltown Land Trust, carrying out trail maintenance, property management, and site monitoring with the help of HLT’s partners and volunteers. Since graduating with a degree in Environmental Science from Wesleyan University in 2018, she’s worked on sustainable farms throughout New England, managed the produce department of a local-food-oriented market in Los Angeles, and practiced fine gardening in the Bay Area. Now she’s back in Western Massachusetts, hoping to build a deep relationship with the natural world and local community here through her service year with TerraCorps. Mariel is excited to learn more about the native plants and ecological systems of the Hilltowns, while contributing to the conservation of their wild lands.
