Celebrate Father’s Day in the woods with Hilltown Land Trust and Williamsburg Woodland Trails! HLT board member and Williamsburg historian Eric Weber will lead an approximately 1.5 mile hike (out and back) to the ruins of the Williamsburg Reservoir Company dam whose failure in 1874 devastated four downstream villages and claimed 139 lives. Eric will tell the story of the disaster as we walk and pause at several stops.

The Historic Dam Trail was constructed by Williamsburg Woodland Trails, with support and assistance from many individuals and organizations, including former HLT AmeriCorps member Michael Madole. The grand opening of the trail is also scheduled to happen this May.

Dress for being in the woods (long pants and sleeves, sturdy hiking boots, etc.) and be sure to bring insect repellent and plenty of water. Please note there are no restrooms at this location. Dogs are not allowed at this property.

There is no cost for this event. Donations are always gratefully accepted.

RSVPs required as space is limited: email hltoutreach [at] thetrustees [dot] org or call 413-628-4485 ext 4.
