Spring Ephemeral Wildflower walk

May 5, 2018

Date/Time
Date(s) - May 5th, 2018
10:00 am - 12:00 pm

Join us for a spring ephemeral walk! Led by former Hilltown Land Trust AmeriCorps service member Nicole Rhodes, we will check out the wildflowers on a conserved property in Worthington. This property has ideal forest conditions for spring ephemerals, so we are likely to see a great variety of species! The route will be a short hike along an old logging road in the woods with uneven terrain, and some wandering off the trail to find and identify different wildflowers.

Two images put together with a blue diving line. On the left is a jack in the pulpit flower and on the right is a yellow trout lily.
Two spring ephemerals growing on HLT conservation land: jack in the pulpit (left) and yellow trout lily (right).

Nicole Rhodes served as MassLIFT-AmeriCorps Land Stewardship Coordinator at Hilltown Land Trust during the 2014-2015 service year. Since then, she has worked as a field biologist and educator, and has a background in environmental science, research, and land conservation, and specializes in New England flora. Nicole works as a classroom aide at Westhampton Elementary.

Come dressed for being in the outdoors (long sleeves and pants, sturdy hiking boots, etc.). Be sure to bring water and insect repellent, wildflower guidebooks if you have them, and, of course, your cameras.

HLT Member: $5
Non-member: $10
Preregistration required as space is limited. RSVP for the location of the event: hltoutreach <at> thetrustees <dot> org Or call 413-628-4485 ext. 4.
