The Gorge après Gorge is Turning 20!

October 10, 2024

A warmly dressed parent and child smile goofily as they pose with cookie medals.

We always have reasons to celebrate at the Gorge apres Gorge: community, love of nature, and the best little 5k and family fun walk in the Hilltowns. This year, we have an extra-special reason to party: It’s the 20TH ANNUAL Gorge après Gorge!

Since 2005, the Gorge après Gorge 5k Trail Run and Family Fun Walk has brought together families and individuals for outdoor recreation on the Sunday after Thanksgiving at the Chesterfield Gorge in Chesterfield.

The event was started by organizers Leslie Charles and Tanya Rapinchuk as a way to celebrate community, and get outside and appreciate nature with friends, family, and neighbors at a time of year when it’s tempting to stay inside. It began with just a few dozen people, and has grown over the years to include runners and walkers from as far away as Maryland.

Here’s what past participants have had to say:

This has always been a favorite race of ours. Great energy. Gorgeous course.

Melinda

Love this race. An annual tradition!

I love the sense of community that it has. So welcoming to all participants.

Tom

We hope you can join us this year at the Chesterfield Gorge on Sunday, December 1st for the 5k trail run or family fun walk! Registration for both is open on RunReg until 5 pm on Friday, November 29th. Day-of registration will also be available. We hope to see you there!
