Announcing our 4th Photo Contest: The Amazing Life of Individual Trees

October 4, 2018

“Even the green trees partake the deep contentment; as they bend toward the soft winds”

-William Cullen Bryant

Join us for the fourth Hilltown Land Trust Photography Contest! The 2018 theme is The Amazing Life of Individual Trees.

HLT is honoring trees this year because they quite literally clean the air for us and without them we could not breathe. Many species find homes, safety, food, shade, beauty, mystery and a myriad of other ways to support their own lives with this tenacious and generous genus.

The photos may be of a seed or nut when it begins to germinate, the twisted trunk of a dead tree, or any stage of life in between. The trees you choose may have leaves of color or bare branches holding snow. They may have roots clinging to a rock or have grown so close to another tree that the two young trees have become one. Perhaps there is a favorite tree that invites poetry or another that triggers fear. Open to the deep wealth that trees offer and you will be inspired. With the same appreciation for trees as William Cullen Bryant, this year we celebrate the tree!

Stay tuned for submission deadlines and details, plus contest rules, but in the meantime, get out there and start taking pictures!
