Bear With Us!

June 7, 2018

This fall, we purchased a wildlife camera to track wildlife use of our conserved land and hopefully to get some good images and video to share with you! Over the winter, the camera was at our Stevens property in Huntington & Westhampton, where we captured some images and video of the moose we had seen evidence of before.

In the spring, we placed the camera near a vernal pool on one of our conserved properties in Chester. We learned from the Wildlife Camera Workshop that vernal pools and other bodies of water are great locations to place wildlife cameras, since all creatures need water to survive. We were delighted to find this video of a bear when we retrieved the camera last week! Scroll down to see our best moose and bear images and video.

To learn more about how forested wetlands support our local wildlife, RSVP now for our Wetland Walk this Sunday, June 10th.
