So Long to Tim and Sarah!

July 26, 2023

While Hilltown Land Trust is fortunate to host amazing TerraCorps members every year, the downside of this AmeriCorps program is that we have to say goodbye to them after only 11 months.

Sarah Welch and Tim Antrim-Cashin have brought so much to our team this year. From building new trails and creating a new map for the Conwell property, to hosting webinars and hikes, to teaching people about vernal pools (sometimes by dressing up as vernal pool denizens…), they have made a big impact during their short time with HLT that will be felt for years to come!

Tim, Katie, Sally, and Sarah pose for a picture at the Vernal Pool Plunge at the DAR State forest. Tim is dressed as a stick with egg masses attached, Katie is dressed as a mosquito larva, Sally is dressed as a frog, and Sarah is dressed as a vernal pool with a turtle sunning itself on a log. In the background are old mounds of snow, a couple of benches, and a small wooden cabin.
Tim, Katie, Sally, and Sarah dressed as vernal pool creatures at the Plunge for Adventure, a polar plunge fundraiser for All Out Adventures at the DAR State Forest in April.

Tim said one of the highlights of his year was “any and all of the Conwell trail work days. Seeing and being part of land conservation at its most granular level has been a total blessing! The volunteer community that came together to help at Conwell and the opportunity to steward such an incredible piece of property will be continuously inspiring. On equal footing with my Conwell memories, is anytime Tiffany brought in pastries from the Chesterfield General Store.”

“I’ve loved meeting people in the Hilltowns and beyond these past two years,” Sarah shared. “Building community around a shared sense of purpose – our love of this place – is what has made service with Hilltown Land Trust so meaningful to me. Let’s keep growing together!”

Tim plans to work with his brother in West Virginia doing small scale construction, though he will keep a pied-a-terre (i.e. a mattress on the floor) at a friend’s house in Montague, so expect to see him around. We are hoping that Sarah will continue to be involved with HLT in some capacity. Stay tuned for news and details!

If you see them, please join us in thanking them for their service to HLT and the Hilltowns!

We are still looking for a Community Engagement Coordinator to serve with us for the 2023-24 service year. Please help us spread the word by sharing our position announcement.

Tiffany, Tim, and Sarah squat down and pose for a picture by a wildlife camera attached low on a birch tree. The are dressed for cool weather, and the sun is shining through autumn leaves behind them.
