Every July, we say goodbye to the TerraCorps members who served at Hilltown Land Trust for the past 11 months. Audrey Boraski and Sarah Welch have done so much to take care of the land and engage communities across the Hilltowns, from coordinating the monitoring of over 5,000 acres of conserved properties to sharing the wonders of nature on hikes across our service area.
Audrey, who served for the past two years as our Land Stewardship Coordinator, shared a highlight from her service year:
It was great to stay a second year and deepen my connections with the amazing staff, volunteers, and landowners.
Community Engagement Coordinator Sarah added,
At our Volunteer Celebration in April, so many of my HLT passions and projects intersected: the Writing the Land chapter we worked on with poet JuPong Lin (stay tuned for more on this project in the fall!), leading nature walks, and connecting with our amazing community of volunteers. Standing in my bare feet in gentle snow next to Conwell Pond, listening to JuPong read her poem to all the volunteers who were totally transfixed by her words, I felt so proud to represent HLT and be part of this community.
Audrey is headed to a new job as a land use and transportation coordinator at the Franklin Regional Council of Governments in Greenfield. We’re excited to announce that Sarah will return in the fall for a second TerraCorps term at HLT alongside our new Land Stewardship Coordinator.
Please join us in thanking Audrey and Sarah for all their hard work this year!
