Bark: A Field Guide to the Trees of the Northeast

Have you ever had trouble identifying trees in the winter, when the leaves from deciduous trees are absent? Learn how to recognize trees by their bark and other characteristics in this program with naturalist and author Michael Wojtech. During this hike and walk in the woods, Michael will teach budding naturalists of all ages to distinguish different tree species while learning about the function and origins of the characteristics that define them.

Michael is a hilltowns resident who writes and teaches about the trees and forests of New England. He is the author of Bark: A Field Guide to Trees of the Northeast and co-author of Drawing Trees and Leaves. For more information on Michael and his books, please visit www.knowyourtrees.com.

Cost: $15 / $10 for members of HLT / Free for children under 13

This event requires pre-registration. Please email Katie at hltoutreach [at] thetrustees [dot] org to reserve a space or call 413-628-4485 ext 4. The event will be held on conserved land in Worthington.
