THIS EVENT IS POSTPONED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE. We hope to reschedule the event at a later date but are currently concerned about your safety even though the number of cases of Corona Virus is still low in Massachusetts

Interested in learning more about black bears in Massachusetts? Join us for an evening with Kathy Zeller, a post-doctoral researcher in the Mass Cooperative Fish and Wildlife Research Unit in Amherst. She will be sharing current research on black bears in the state and what we’re learning about black bear movement and behavior. She will also discuss ongoing efforts to estimate black bear population sizes across Massachusetts.

Sally Naser of CR Wildlife Cams will then give a short presentation on the use of trail cameras to capture photos and videos of Hilltown wildlife including tips for camera trapping in black bear territory. Sally will present a variety of video clips of a family of black bears captured in 2019 on one of the protected properties that’s part of Kathy Zeller’s research project. Trail cameras are an excellent tool to provide us with an unobtrusive view into the hidden lives, behaviors, and health of wildlife.

RSVP is not required for this event. Please contact Allie Foster with any further questions at allie@hilltownlandtrust.org or (413) 628-4485, ext 4.
