Hilltowns Hiking Series – Keystone Arches Bridge Trail

November 19, 2017

Date/Time
Date(s) - Nov 19th, 2017
9:30 am - 2:00 pm

Location
Chester Railway Station & Museum

Join Hilltown Land Trust and Friends of the Keystone Arches for a hike along the Keystone Arches Bridge Trail in Chester. David Pierce of the Friends of the Keystone Arches will guide us on this moderate 5-mile hike along the Westfield River. Along the way, David will tell us the history of the stone bridges that cross the river, the first keystone arch railroad bridge cluster built in the United States.

As a special treat, David will open the Chester Railway Museum for us after the hike, where we can learn more about the history of the railway.

We will meet at the Chester Railway Station and Museum parking lot at 10 Prospect Street at 9:30 am and carpool from there to the trailhead, as parking is very limited at the trail. When you RSVP, please indicate if you are willing to drive other people to the trailhead and how many you can fit in your car.
Bring lunch with you, and we will stop along the way to eat. Alternately, sit down for lunch after the hike at the Chester Common Table or grab something from the Chester Village Market. Note that there are no bathroom facilities at the trailhead, but we can make use of the bathroom at the Museum before and after the hike.
RSVP by emailing hltoutreach <at> thetrustees <dot> org and indicated how many are in your party and whether you are willing to drive others to the trailhead from the museum (and how many spots are in your car).
Suggested donation: $5-$10 to benefit Friends of the Keystone Arches and Hilltown Land Trust
