Browse ceramics by Mark Shapiro and guest potters, then stop by Hilltown Land Trust’s table for community nature art activities. Live natural history art demo from 1 to 1:30 PM. Free refreshments and buy-your-own lunch from Crepes Nanou available.

After you do your pottery shopping, you can head just around the corner to cool off on in the woods of the Conwell property. We will have maps and directions available at our table, or you can download a copy to bring with you.

COST: Free and open to the public, including scheduled demos.
AGES: Family friendly.

Accessibility

  • Bathroom: Outdoor Porta-Potties – accessible type TBD.
  • Steps and barriers: Outdoor event on mown lawn and gravel drive, with single steps up to access indoor studios.
  • Does the facility have a barrier-free entry (e.g. an ADA accessible ramp)? If so, how long are any main entry ramps? If no barrier-free entry, how many steps are required to enter the space? Are there any internal steps or barriers to accessing important areas within the facilities, like bathrooms, stages, or bars?
  • Audio: Live art demo will have a small group outdoors and up close to the presenter, and will not use a PA system.
  • Fragrances: The Hilltown6 Pottery Tour does not have an official fragrance policy, but Hilltown Land Trust appreciates low-fragrance visitors.
  • Parking: Unmarked parking on mown grass.
  • Seating: Various benches, patio furniture, and folding chairs available.

Directions

42 Conwell Rd in Worthington (Google Maps Link)

From Northampton:

Take MA-9 West towards Williamsburg. After passing through Williamsburg town center, turn left onto MA-143 West. Continue for 8 miles, then turn left onto Ireland Street. After 4.5 miles, turn right onto Conwell Road, the driveway to 42 Conwell Road will be on your left.

From Ashfield:

Take MA-112 South towards Goshen, then turn left on MA-9 East and continue for ¾ of a mile. Turn right onto Main Street and immediately turn right onto West Street. Continue for two miles onto Damon Pond Road and then onto Smith Road after 1.5 miles. At the end of Smith Road, turn right onto MA-143 West, then turn left onto Ireland Street after a mile. Take Ireland Street for 4.5 miles and then turn right onto Conwell Road. 42 Conwell Road will be the driveway on your left.

Learn how to effectively monitor the protected lands you love. We will discuss land protection tools, go over the basics of conducting a site visit, and get some practice in the field. Emphasis will be on understanding the basics of GPS use, including how to take a track of where you walk, mark points of interest and upload the information onto a simple digital map.
