July Hike at the Bullitt Reservation

July 19, 2022

Date/Time
Date(s) - Jul 19th, 2022
5:30 pm - 7:30 pm

Location
Bullitt Reservation

A group of hikers gathers by the edge of the grassland meadow at Bullitt, looking out over the field. Please note that this event has been postponed to Tuesday, July 19th at 5:30 pm due to potential thunderstorms!

Celebrate the fields and forests of summer with a hike at the Bullitt Reservation in Ashfield! Watch the pollinators buzz from wildflower to wildflower in brightly colored grassland meadows, take in the historic barn and farmhouse, and find respite from the heat in the forest along the Pebble Trail.

This hike is appropriate for all ages. Children supervised by an adult are welcome! Pre-registration is required.

Access Info

At minimum, we will hike a 1-mile loop around the Pebble Trail, which is a moderate trail comprised of equal parts mown grass pathway and compacted dirt footpath. We will also have time to tour the garden and meadows at Bullitt, which may add to the total distance walked. Portions of the trail can be muddy after the rain, and there is potential for rocks and roots underfoot. There are no benches available on the Pebble Trail, although the hike will include opportunities to stop and catch our breath. We will hike at the pace of our slowest member.

The office (HLT’s home base!) at the Bullitt Reservation is entered by a ~60-foot wooden ramp, and low (2″) side guide rails but no handrails. There is a large single-stall indoor bathroom on the first floor with a changing table and grip bars.

Well-behaved, leashed dogs are welcome at this program.

Cost

This hike is free, donations gratefully accepted. Your donation supports future programs like this at HLT.

To become a member of Hilltown Land Trust for the year, make a gift in any amount to support our efforts to conserve and care for ecologically valuable land in the Hilltowns.
