Pottery and Poetry for Land Conservation

July 28, 2024

Date/Time
Date(s) - Jul 28th, 2024
10:00 am - 5:00 pm

Location
Stonepool Pottery

Centered in the image is a vibrant blue ceramic bowl made by Emmett Leader. The edges of other similar bowls can be seen in the image as well. Our 3rd annual pottery fundraiser is back at the scenic Stonepool Pottery in Worthington!

Join Hilltown Land Trust and local potter Emmett Leader at the Hilltown 6 Pottery Tour. Emmett donated his time making dozens of vibrant handmade bowls that will be available to purchase for a donation of $60. The full proceeds of these bowls will go to HLT’s land conservation and stewardship work in the Hilltowns. Emmett used locally-sourced clay to make this beautiful pottery.

We’ll also have copies of Writing the Land: Windblown II, an anthology that features a poetry and art chapter about the beautiful Conwell trails located just up the road.

You can find these handcrafted bowls, our poetry anthology  and Hilltown Land Trust Board members and staff at Mark Shapiro‘s pottery studio Stonepool Pottery in Worthington from 10-5 on Sunday, July 28th.

A book cover reading "Writing the Land: Windblown I, edited by Lis McLoughlin, PhD, foreword by Stephen C. Trombulak, PhD. The background is An abstract blue and white painting of dandelion seeds on the breeze, conveyed with swirling lines. By Martin Bridge.
Cover of Windblown I, cover art by Martin Bridge.

Both Emmett and Mark have a personal connection with the Conwell property, which inspired them to hold this fundraiser! After you do your pottery shopping, you can head just around the corner to cool off on in the woods of the Conwell property. We will have maps and directions available at our table, or you can download a copy to bring with you.
