Soak Up the Rain: Porous Paving

May 4, 2024

Date/Time
Date(s) - May 4th, 2024
9:00 am - 10:30 am

Location
Meekins Library

On a blue waterdrop background faintly watermarked by the number 1, turquoise and white text reads "Climate Smart Workshops at Home and Work Session 5 of 5. Soak Up the Rain: Porous Paving at Meekins Library, Williamsburg, MA. Saturday May 4th, 9-10:30 am." At the very bottom, there are logos of the four partners; in order from left to right are Hilltown Land Trust, the Town of Williamsburg, Pioneer Valley Planning Commission, and Meekins Library.Learn simple backyard flood interventions you can do yourself in this practical, five-part workshop series introducing strategies for addressing climate impacts at the residential scale. This series is part of the Upper Mill River Watershed Project funded through the Commonwealth’s Municipal Vulnerability Preparedness (MVP) program.

Rachel Loeffler, Landscape Architect and Principal at Berkshire Design Group will present at the fifth and final session of the Climate Smart Landscapes at Home and Work series with “Soak Up the Rain: Porous Paving.” Rachel will introduce various strategies to transform impervious surfaces like driveways and parking lots. Rachel will draw upon years of experience to demonstrate how residents and property owners can reduce the negative impacts of paved surfaces and help rainfall better infiltrate the landscape rather than runoff and flood residences and businesses.

This event is free to the public and we welcome all people.
