Join Paul Wetzel, Smith College environmental researcher and member of American Chestnut Foundation, for a tour of the American Chestnut seed production orchard and research plots at Smith College’s MacLeish Field Station. The event will begin with a short talk about the history of the American Chestnut and efforts to develop a blight resistant hybrid and continue outside with a tour of a seed orchard and forest canopy gaps created to investigate methods for introducing Chestnut hybrids.
