Trail Maintenance Volunteer Day!

November 7, 2020

Date/Time
Date(s) - Nov 7th, 2020
9:00 am - 12:00 pm

Location
Stevens Property

Five college students pose with tools in the woods.
UMass volunteers take a break from trail maintenance to pose for a picture

Join Audrey, HLT’s new TerraCorps Land Stewardship Coordinator, and other volunteers for a fun morning hiking and clearing trails at our Stevens Property in Huntington & Westhampton. We need to re-blaze our long loop trail plus cut and chainsaw downed trees across trails to improve hiker experience and safety.

Note we will hike 1+ mile of mild to moderate trails to get to the section that needs maintenance. We will be back to the parking area at 12:00 pm.

We will be utilizing chainsaws, hand saws, loppers, paint, paint scrapers, and our muscles!!!  HLT will provide a few hand saws, loppers, paint, and paint scrapers (please bring your own hand tools if you have them) but we will need at least 1 volunteer willing to bring and carry their chainsaw and PPE.

Please bring with you:

  • a full water bottle
  • weather appropriate clothes/gear (hat, layers, etc.)
  • safety and comfort supplies (mask, hand sanitizer)
  • work gloves
  • lunch/snacks
  • safety glasses (if desired)
  • small pack to carry anything you may need including the above

Please read our in-person event procedures below. For everyone’s safety and comfort, we will be following these procedures for all of our in-person events until further notice.

RSVP REQUIRED TO: audrey@hilltownlandtrust.org or 413-628-4485, ext 4

Rain Date: Saturday November 14th 9:00am-12:00pm

Hilltown Land Trust Public Events Procedures
Recognizing the continued threat to community health posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, Hilltown Land Trust remains committed to prioritizing the safety of our members, neighbors, and staff as we resume hosting public events. In order to ensure the health of all participants, please review the following guidelines and abide by them during all Hilltown Land Trust programs.
  • To limit the number of participants, pre-registration is required for each participant in all public events.
  • Masks (securely covering both the mouth and nose) must be worn by all participants for the duration of the event.
  • Social distancing (allowing for six or more feet between individuals from different households) is required at all times.
  • If you are experiencing any COVID-19 symptoms (including but not limited to: fever or chills, cough, sore throat, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, muscle or body aches, nausea, and/or loss of sense of taste or smell), please wait until symptoms subside before attending an event.
  • If you have tested positive for COVID-19, or had direct contact with someone who has, you must wait 14 days before attending an event.
While we are eager to host in-person events, we can only do so with your cooperation. By agreeing to the above guidelines, and by following other common-sense safety measures, we can work collectively to ensure the well-being of the Hilltowns while sharing in the fellowship of our community. Please contact Katie Carr at katie@hilltownlandtrust.org with questions or concerns.
