Come learn about the certification process and ecology of vernal pools with naturalist and vernal pool guru, Charely Eiseman. Vernal pools are fragile ecosystems. In order to protect them, Massachusetts has a state certification that restricts certain kinds of activity near vernal pools. This webinar will cover the basics of vernal pool ecology, how to identify them, and how to document their wildlife in order to certify them. Come to learn or just come to marvel at Charley’s incredible photos of vernal pool wildlife. This webinar is a recording of a previous webinar, with a live Q&A with Charley afterwards.
The webinar is part 1 of this year’s Vernal Pool Plunge. HLT is also hosting a visit to a vernal pool in conjunction with this webinar the very next day. See event details for the walk here. Join us on May 3rd as we explore a vernal pool with naturalist Nellie Wilson and search for the creatures featured in this webinar. You can attend either or both events, you are not required to attend both. If you plan to attend both events, you must register for each separately!
