Event Cancellations and COVID-19

March 16, 2020

Because your health and safety are our priority, Hilltown Land Trust is canceling all our March events. We made this decision due to concerns about the spread of COVID-19, taking into consideration the recommendations from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and the safety measures called for by Gov. Baker.

We are monitoring the situation closely and hope that these events are merely postponed until a later date. Events for April will be assessed at the end of this month. Please keep a look out for updates here on our website and on our social media pages (see links at top of page) and via our enews.

Studies have shown that spending time outdoors has a positive effect on your health and stress level. We encourage you to make use of the many hiking trails throughout our region, including HLT’s eight properties with hiking trails. If you haven’t visited them all, take this opportunity to explore!

At the office, we are practicing social distancing and our staff are working remotely as much as possible. Our office will be closed to visitors for the time being. We will still be available via email or through our website, or you can leave a phone message (413-628-4485 x2 for Sally, x4 for Tessa or Allie, x5 for Katie) and we will get back to you as soon as we can.

The uncertainty at this time can be daunting, but we trust in the resilience of our Hilltown communities. Challenges can be overcome by taking care of yourself and those around you.

Laughter has also been shown to give your immune system a boost. Have a look at my favorite image from 2019’s Comedy Wildlife Photography Awards and see if you don’t feel a bit better!

Spring is upon us: wood frogs and fairy shrimp have been spotted in local wetlands, sugar maple sap is running by the bucket full, crocuses and daffodils are pushing up from the greening earth, and spring ephemerals will be here soon. It is a time of hope and growth. Try to get outside to enjoy the change of seasons and we hope to see you soon!
