Harvesting Rainwater: Cisterns and Rain Barrels

April 13, 2024

Date/Time
Date(s) - Apr 13th, 2024
9:00 am - 10:30 am

Location
Meekins Library

On a blue waterdrop background faintly watermarked by the number 1, turquoise and white text reads "Climate Smart Workshops at Home and Work Session 3 of 5. Harvesting Rainwater: Cisterns and Rain Barrels at Meekins Library, Williamsburg, MA. Saturday April 13th, 9-10:30 am." At the very bottom, there are logos of the four partners; in order from left to right are Hilltown Land Trust, the Town of Williamsburg, Pioneer Valley Planning Commission, and Meekins Library.

Learn simple backyard flood interventions you can do yourself in this practical, five-part workshop series introducing strategies for addressing climate impacts at the residential scale. This series is part of the Upper Mill River Watershed Project funded through the Commonwealth’s Municipal Vulnerability Preparedness (MVP) program.

Planners from Pioneer Valley Planning Commission will introduce the importance of the soil in the third session of the Climate Smart Landscapes at Home and Work series with “Harvesting Rainwater: Cisterns and Rain Barrels.” Chief Environment Planner Patty Gambarini and Senior Planner W. Kyle Finnell return to discuss the different storage systems residents can employ to keep rainwater from inundating the landscape, minimizing flood damage and building resilience in times of drought.

This event is free to the public and we welcome all people.
