The horses at work at Sawyer Farm

Join Hilltown Land Trust at Sawyer Farm in Worthington to learn how and why this family farm uses horses instead of tractors to plow and work their fields, and how they came to choose sustainable, organic farming practices to produce vegetables and meat for the local community. The event will include a talk by the farmers with a Q&A, a visit to the farmstand, and a demonstration of the horses in action! This event is suitable for adults and children ages 5 and older.

Attractive wooden bins full of various root vegetable in the foreground of a wooden structure, with winter squash piled above them. Dried herbs hang above and signs in background advertise other products (meat and grains).
The farm store at Sawyer Farm

Sawyer Farm is an organic, horse-powered, family farm in Worthington. Established in 2010 by Lincoln Fishman and Hilary Costa, Sawyer Farm grows produce and raises animals in a sustainable, eco-friendly manner. Their farm store is open daily, all year long, selling produce, meat, cheese, honey, art, and other products from their farm and other local farms.

Sliding-scale suggested donation: $5-20 (proceeds from this event will be split between Hilltown Land Trust and Sawyer Farm).

RSVPs appreciated: email Katie at hltoutreach [at] thetrustees [dot] org or call (413) 628-4485 ext 4.
