Windsor Jambs Hike

May 17, 2019

Date/Time
Date(s) - May 17th, 2019
1:00 pm - 3:00 pm

Location
Windsor State Forest

Mossy landscape at Windsor Jambs

We are partnering with The Trustees to enjoy one of the Westfield River’s headwater tributaries. We will hike the recently-cleared Windsor Jambs Trail from the campground on River Rd., through the Windsor State Forest to its dramatic, cascading waterfalls. This trail boasts some very beautiful green wetlands, and moss seems to cover nearly everything.

This intermediate hike has hills and numerous wet areas including a stream we will ford. It is both muddy and slippery in places. There is a descent that is particularly challenging. It is an hour hike from the river to the jambs and participants will have the option to return on the trail or complete the hike at the Jambs where we will have several cars parked for returning.

If you own walking poles, bring them! Please wear waterproof boots and bring water, bug repellent, and a snack. Friendly dogs are welcome with the use of a leash and respect for others on the trail.

Spaces will be limited. Preregistration is required by emailing HLToutreach@thetrustees.org or calling 413-628-4485 ext 4. This hike is FREE, but donations are gratefully accepted.
